A Little About Me

Hi, I’m Maya, the maker behind Crochet by Maya.

I’m a mum and a maker, and what began as a simple love for crochet has slowly grown into something more meaningful - a way to create soft, story-inspired pieces that feel comforting, gentle, and quietly special.

My journey with crochet actually began when I was little, living with my grandparents on a farm in Brazil. Life there was slow and simple, and my grandmother first showed me how to crochet simple stitches - a small moment that stayed with me long after.

Years later, during a discipleship year at church, I found my way back to it. In quiet moments between serving and learning, I picked up a crochet hook again - and through stitching, prayer, and worship, it became something deeply grounding and peaceful.

Over time, I started to realise this could become more than just a hobby. Not just something to make, but something to share - little pieces that could gently encourage, comfort, and reflect faith in a soft and meaningful way.

Right now, this space is still growing. I’m in the process of creating my first original designs and collections - pieces that feel like small glimpses into a story, something that could be held, read, and treasured.

Through these “Little Stories,” my hope is to create characters and moments that feel like they’ve stepped out of a storybook - simple, gentle, and full of quiet meaning.

My heart behind all of this is to create things that point, softly and without pressure, to the love of God - something that can be felt in the stillness, in the details, and in the stories themselves.
